Sculptor, artist and bassist Peter Jacquemyn has long been known for his intense, energetic improvisations. In doing so he not only touches the strings with his fingers or bows, but also works with other objects such as beer cans. He never plays a traditional score, even does not really read any notes. Of course, that doesn't make him less a composer.

He developed in 2014 during a Byloke Manufactuur a score with no musical notes but movements, the gestures that have to carry the musicians to generate certain sounds (see the cover of the CD). And themusicians are five great Flemish bas players: Yannick Peeters, Lode Leire, Kristof Roseeuw, Pieter Lenaerts and Peter Jacquemyn himself ... or Basssss.

Beeldhouwer, tekenaar en contrabassist Peter Jacquemyn staat al jaren bekend voor zijn intense, energetische improvisaties. Daarbij beroert hij de snaren niet enkel met zijn vingers of strijkstokken maar bewerkt ze ook met andere objecten zoals bierblikjes. Hij speelt nooit van een traditionele partituur, leest zelfs geen noten. Dat maakt hem natuurlijk niet minder componist.

Hij ontwikkelde in 2014 tijdens een Bijloke Manufactuur een partituur waarin geen muzieknoten maar bewegingen opgetekend staan, de gestes die de musici moeten uitvoeren om bepaalde klanken op te wekken (zie de cover van de cd). En die muzikanten zijn vijf geweldige Vlaamse contrabassisten: Yannick Peeters, Lode Leire, Kristof Roseeuw, Pieter Lenaerts en Peter Jacquemyn zelf… oftewel Basssss.
